Making Door Panel II

This work is a commission we carried out for a customer who had chosen a basic design which they liked but wanted us to expand on it. The main theme was based on the 50’s juke box design so it was important to hold the concept even though the design had to incorporate ten separate windows separated by thick transoms. This created a challenge as it would be easy to lose the desired effect because of these barriers. To this end, the design repeats the central theme which is depicted in the two bottom windows and uses it to link up each window. I was careful not to include a central dominate panel which would distract from the overall effect which remains more art Deco than contemporary.
